SENIOR TECHNICAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Position Overview

The position carries responsibility for the internal control systems and areas of better business management for the improved performance of the Group. The position is based in Gaborone and will require travel. The core qualification involves the ability to bring about strategic change, both within and outside the organization, to meet organizational goals. The ability to establish an organizational vision and to implement it in a continuously changing environment.

Key Performance Indicators

• Develop new insights into situations, question conventional approaches; encourage new ideas and innovations; design and implement new or cutting-edge programs/processes.
• Part of the IT Department and ensuring maximum availability of the computer systems within the Motovac Group.
• Flexible to change and rapidly adapts to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.
• Analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating complex system design and architecture specifications, data models, and diagrams in the development, configuration, and integration of computer systems.
• Taking responsibility for deploying functional solutions, such as creating, adopting, and implementing system test plans to ensure acceptable quality and integrity of the system for the smooth functioning of the business.
• Assessing and recommending improvements to network operations and services including desktop applications, local or wide area networks, system security, and telecommunications.
• Working with Group IT Manager to propose, agree, and deliver service to defined Service Level Agreements.
• Using data and process modeling techniques to create technical specifications for system developers.
• Being responsible for the hardware, software, and procurement if needed.
• Developing and maintaining disaster recovery plan.
• Developing and controlling the security policy.
• Providing a monthly written report to the Seniors on all aspects of the department.

Competency

• Post Graduate or Masters in Information Technology with a minimum of 18 years working experience.
• MCP, MCSE certificate required.
• Working in an ERP environment and knowledge in Kerridge is an added advantage.
• Should be able to implement, set up, and impart technical training to the members of the department.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Ability to work independently with good interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
