Midwifery Education Expert
We invite applications from qualified and experienced consultants to support a short-term assignment. The successful candidate will contribute to a comprehensive evaluation and provide expert analysis, helping to inform strategies and programme improvements. Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for:
Assessing the effectiveness and quality of a midwifery programme, including clinical training, mentorship, and service delivery.
Analysing feasibility and readiness for scaling up the model, including infrastructure, staffing, and resource availability.
Reviewing student enrolment trends and the implications of national regulatory frameworks.
Comparing academic, clinical, and practical competencies of graduates across institutions using both qualitative and quantitative data.
Conducting a graduate tracer study to evaluate employment status, deployment patterns, and professional development.
Identifying success factors, challenges, and opportunities for sustainable scale-up of midwifery education programmes.
Developing actionable recommendations to enhance programme design and implementation.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have:
At least a Master’s degree Midwifery, Nursing Education, Public Health, or a closely related field.
At least 10 years of experience in programme evaluation or workforce development, with a strong background in capacity building or lecturing of midwives.
Demonstrated knowledge of midwifery education systems and regulatory frameworks in sub-Saharan Africa, preferably Zambia.
Proven expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including tracer studies and competency assessments.
Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills; evidence of publications is an advantage.
Experience working with Ministries of Health, professional councils, and health training institutions.
