Business Development and Marketing Lead
Our client, an International Re-insurance Company is looking for a Business Development & Marketing Lead to join their dynamic team. The role reports into the Deputy CEO.
Job Overview
This role is a launchpad for senior leadership in business development or market strategy and is intended to serve as a foundational force in positioning the organisation as a trusted, insight-driven, and relationship-first reinsurer across its global footprint. The incumbent will be expected to operate with discretion, commercial acumen, and a proactive commitment to excellence in all interactions.
The Business Development & Marketing Lead is a key client-facing role dedicated to advancing the organisation’s client engagement, marketing development, and operational alignment with strategic priorities. Acting as an essential bridge between internal capabilities and external relationships, the role is responsible for managing client accounts, driving marketing initiatives, and ensuring service excellence across key corporate functions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Relationship Management & Development
- Act as a primary liaison for key clients and brokers, cultivating trusted, long-term relationships that enhance client satisfaction and retention.
- Proactively identify client needs and deliver tailored solutions in collaboration with underwriting, claims, and finance teams.
- Track client account performance, manage feedback loops, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Support the execution of client onboarding and service delivery frameworks to ensure seamless engagement and alignment with client expectations.
2. Marketing & Communications
- Develop and implement strategic marketing initiatives to strengthen the Organisation’s market presence across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America.
- Create and manage content for digital platforms, corporate collateral, campaigns, and presentations that convey the organisation’s value proposition and underwriting ambition.
- Coordinate with designers, external agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure consistent branding, message clarity, and market resonance.
3. Business Development Support
- Support the origination team by preparing tailored client decks, marketing presentations, and pre-engagement material.
- Assist in profiling target clients and brokers, identifying new business opportunities, and mapping strategic client journeys.
- Provide input into the go-to-market strategy and execution plans, including regional market intelligence, competitor insights, and feedback from client engagements.
4. Strategic Support to Deputy CEO
- Assist in preparing strategic reports, investor decks, and board-facing communication materials on client trends, market development, and marketing performance.
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives and project tracking linked to client growth, retention metrics, and reputational positioning.
- Monitor and report on the performance of key marketing and client initiatives, providing recommendations for improvement.
5. Operational Excellence & Internal Liaison
- Serve as a communication conduit between client-facing activities and internal teams, ensuring alignment on delivery timelines, expectations, and execution risks.
- Lead internal briefing sessions before client meetings and ensure all stakeholders are equipped with relevant intelligence and strategic context.
- Ensure appropriate documentation and CRM records are maintained to support accurate reporting and relationship continuity.

- Emotional Intelligence: Strong interpersonal awareness, conflict resolution skills, and cross-cultural sensitivity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in client-facing roles within financial services, reinsurance, insurance, or professional services.
- Demonstrated success in marketing execution, relationship management, or strategic business development.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and design tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Suite) is an asset.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills (e.g., French, Arabic, Portuguese) advantageous for regional engagement.
