Job Purpose:
Responsible for preparing, analyzing and interpreting management information and timely reporting the same to respective units internally and where needed to external auditors and regulatory institutions externally. Implementing controls in managing troubled loans and other exposures which require a high degree of attention to minimize risks, prevent losses and restore profit through rehabilitation, restructuring and workout.
Main Responsibilities:
- At every quarterly review, preparation of write-off accounts for all credit accommodations and other risk assets that have remained in the loss category for four consecutive quarters.
- Monthly and Quarterly preparation of Special Asset Management (SAM) report for SAM and watchlist committee, Loan Portfolio Quality (LPQ), Credit Committee (CREDCO) and quarterly SAM Board Papers.
- Ensure that all downgraded files are in order and all relevant information is in place including case profile, hand-over call report, legal security review and adoption aide memoire.
- Keep record of all downgraded accounts and who have been allocated to handle the file by Head; Special Asset Management.
- Ensure all security documents are in order, valuation is in place, insurance, property taxes and land rent paid and keep tracker for its renewals.
- Review of facility letters and deed of settlements after being prepared by SAM account owners and ensure all approval decisions and conditions have been captured.
- Cross-check limit set, disbursed amount, interest and end to end system settings once loans have been restructured.
- Keep track and ensure covenants, conditions and collaterals agreements and other information are adhered to/submitted by the customer on specified date.
- On a daily basis, provide Overdraft (OD) reports and distribute them to SAM account owners for action and account owner to review the same and submit to Head; SAM (each excess report to be filed in excess report file)
- On a daily basis, provide loans in arrears report and distribute to SAM account owners for action before submitting it to the Head; SAM.
- Review watch-list report, limits due to expire report and loan in arrears report to identify any possible account that needs special attention and recommend for downgrading the same.
- Prepare and keep records of all sold assets, amount fetched, when sold, buyer name and what was the value of the asset and submit the report on a monthly basis.
- Ensure account owners review downgraded accounts once a year and provide update report on quarterly basis
- Review BOT guidelines on management of risk assets and advise Head; SAM on its implementation
- Make follow up of all legal credit related cases update, court injunction and strike-out cases in favor of the bank for further recovery measures.
- Report on all approved facilities by the Head; SAM on a monthly basis for Retail CREDCO information
- Work on the Write off file, sort the vintage accounts and prepare the summary by segment and zone for distribution of accounts.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Business understanding of Bank loan products and end-to-end credit process.
- Technical ICT expertise, reconciliation, reporting, Flex cube, bank credit policies, procedures and systems, credit appraisal, and restructuring, Excel expertise especially report generation and data analysis.
- Behavioural Attention to detail, relationship management, self-directed work, Teamwork.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Finance or related fields.
- Banking experience of more than 4 years preferably in Special Asset Management/Business Support or Workout Unit in a Commercial Bank, with exposure to asset management.
