1. About JICA
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is the implementing agency of the Japanese Official Development Assistance, dedicated to supporting Zambia’s nation-building efforts for over 50 years. With a steadfast belief that human development is synonymous with national development, JICA collaborates closely with the Government of the Republic of Zambia to tackle development challenges across various sectors, including agriculture, private sector development, infrastructure, energy, water, health, and education. JICA’s assistance primarily involves technical cooperation, which encompasses the dispatch of Japanese technical experts and the provision of training programs in Japan. Additionally, JICA employs other modalities such as financial assistance, the deployment of Japanese volunteers known as the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV), and collaboration with Japanese civil societies. Over the past 55 years, JICA has dispatched more than 1,600 technical experts and volunteers to Zambia and has facilitated training for over 5,000 government officials and graduate students in Japan.
2. Position Overview
JICA Zambia Office is recruiting for the position of NGO desk consultant mainly for building networks with Japanese civil society organizations (CSO), academia, private sectors as well as promoting and supporting their activities in Zambia.
3. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all grass root Programmes under related sectors at JICA Zambia Office are smoothly implemented.
- Focal point for all correspondence/communication from Japanese CSO, academia, private sectors.
- Collect and provided necessary information about Zambia to Japanese CSO, academia, and private sectors.
- Ensure that the model course for teacher’s study visit is aligned to Zambia.
- Contribute towards Public Relations activities and Public Sector Development Programmes at JICA Zambia Office.
- Ensure that all logistics for Japanese CSO, academia, private sectors, and sector study missions from Japan are coordinated effectively and efficiency.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by General Affairs supervisors.
2. Qualifications and skills/competency
(1) A degree in a business-related discipline.
(2) Proven experience in project management/coordination, public relations and administration, preferably within the development sector, of no less than 3 years.
(3) Strong analytical skills and organizing capability.
(4) Good computer skills including a solid command of MS office such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
(5) Good interpersonal and communication skills for building and maintaining partnerships, good work ethics, punctuality and ready to work in a multicultural environment.
3. Outline of Contract Condition
(1) Contract type: Consultancy
(2) Monthly contract amount: ZMW 24,000.00
(3) Contract duration : 8 months from 01 August 2025 to 31 March 2026.
