Job Summary
The Blaster will be responsible for the safe transportation, charging, and detonation of explosives within the permitted mining area, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and site SOPs.
Reporting To
Blasting Supervisor
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Safely transport explosives from the magazine to designated blasting blocks.

Load explosives into blast holes following explosives regulations and site SOPs.

Execute planned blasting activities safely according to regulations.

Report misfires and handle them according to site procedures.

Record and report all incidents/accidents using designated templates.

Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
-
Frequent walking and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Exposure to dusty environments and loud noise levels.
-
Work in areas where airborne particles or chemicals may be present.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Zambian national with a valid underground blasting license issued by the Mine Safety Department (MSD).

Valid Silicosis Health Certificate.
-
Literate with minimum 3 years’ underground mining blasting experience.

Knowledge of initiation sequences and experience in electronic blasting operations.
-
Valid manual transmission Class B driver’s license is an advantage.

Quick learner, adaptable, able to work shifts, and demonstrates strong team spirit.
