Job Summary

The Business Banking Director will provide strategic leadership for NBC’s Business Banking Division by formulating and executing strategies that drive sustainable growth, deposit mobilization, transaction banking penetration, and profitability. The role ensures robust customer acquisition and retention, strong risk and compliance management, operational excellence, and the development of a high-performing team while maintaining solid stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Formulation & Execution

Develop and implement the Business Banking strategy aligned with NBC’s vision and corporate objectives.
Drive execution of business plans to achieve growth, deposit mobilization, profitability, and efficiency targets.
Monitor performance and market trends to adapt strategies for competitiveness and sustainability.

Business Development & Growth

Lead initiatives to expand the customer base and deepen client relationships.
Grow market share across business banking segments.
Drive product innovation in lending, deposits, and transaction banking.
Champion digital transformation to enhance customer experience and efficiency.

Financial Performance & Business Health

Oversee financial performance to ensure revenue growth, deposit growth, and profitability.
Drive asset quality through prudent credit underwriting and portfolio management.
Track KPIs such as loan growth, deposits, transaction volumes, fee income, NPL ratios, ROE, and cost-to-income ratio.

Compliance, Risk & Controls

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, and ethical standards.
Maintain strong risk management frameworks, controls, and governance practices.
Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Stakeholder Engagement & Management

Build strong relationships with regulators, investors, partners, and key clients.
Represent the Division in executive committees, board meetings, and industry forums.
Collaborate with other business units for seamless service delivery and cross-selling.

People Leadership & Development

Lead, mentor, and inspire the Business Banking leadership team.
Drive talent development, succession planning, and capability building.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and customer-centricity.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Growth in business banking customer base and market share.
Deposit growth (value and market share).
Expansion in transaction banking volumes, revenues, and penetration.
Profitability: PBT, ROE, cost-to-income ratio.
Credit quality and portfolio health (NPLs within approved limits).
Compliance and risk management outcomes.
Employee engagement, retention, and leadership pipeline.
Customer satisfaction and Net Promoter Score (NPS).

Qualifications & Experience

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.
Professional qualifications (CFA, CPA, ACCA, Banking certifications) are an advantage.
15+ years’ banking experience, with at least 7 years in senior leadership roles in business/corporate banking.
Proven track record of:
- Strategy execution
- Business growth (loans, deposits, transaction banking)
- High-performance team leadership
Strong knowledge of credit, risk, regulatory frameworks, and financial markets.
