Application Deadline: August 12, 2025
Start Date: September 1 or October 1, 2025
Company Overview
We are a small to medium-sized Zambian enterprise that has been operating for over 10 years. As a technology company, we deliver digital solutions and platforms that power mission-critical services across government and business environments. We are now entering a new growth phase, expanding into retail-oriented fintech offerings while scaling up our existing business-to-business operations, while exploring new funding and growth opportunities.
Role Summary
We are seeking a senior executive to join our leadership team as Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO). The role combines financial stewardship with full oversight of the company’s operational backbone. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the Board, the CFOO will lead internal execution across finance, administration, reporting, compliance, and day-to-day delivery. The position is ideal for a finance-anchored professional with strong operational instincts and the ability to bring structure, discipline, and scale-readiness to a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Leadership
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and internal financial controls
- Own the monthly close-out cycle, including reconciliations, cost accounting, and reporting
- Manage audits, tax compliance, and statutory filings (e.g., ZRA, NAPSA, NHIMA)
- Prepare board packs, financial models, and investor-facing reporting materials
- Maintain oversight of treasury, collections, and working capital cycles
- Guide financial strategy for new product launches and business line extensions
2. Operational Oversight
- Supervise daily operational activities across departments, including administration, payments, logistics, and client delivery
- Design and enforce internal processes, controls, and workflows to strengthen execution and accountability
- Oversee procurement, vendor management, and service delivery timelines
- Ensure coordination across departments and consistent performance monitoring
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective measures
3. Strategic Enablement
- Help institutionalize the business to a structured, process-driven model
- Prepare internal systems and teams for investor scrutiny and external diligence
- Lead business continuity, documentation, and risk management initiatives
- Work closely with the CEO and board to align finance and operations with strategic growth priorities
4. People, Culture, and Governance
- Lead and support functional heads (e.g., operations, finance, customer support) to instill execution discipline, ownership, and alignment with company OKRs.
- Create accountability structures including KPIs, weekly reporting rhythms, and regular performance reviews to track progress and address gaps.
- Shape team structure as the organization grows, ensuring talent development, role clarity, and succession planning.
- Lead the board preparation cycle, coordinating cross-department inputs and ensuring follow-through on governance actions, especially during filings or strategic transactions.
- Reinforce a culture of transparency, ethical conduct, and rapid escalation when risk indicators (e.g., fraud, compliance, system outages) emerge.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a finance executive who has successfully led cross-functional operations. You should be equally comfortable in a boardroom, on a site visit, or mapping out a reconciliation process. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial discipline, operational maturity, and a collaborative mindset.
You will:
- Have at least 10 years of progressive experience in finance and operations
- Be a qualified accountant or hold a degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline
- Have experience leading financial strategy and operations in a mid-sized or fast-growing company
- Be familiar with Zambian statutory compliance and regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging internal teams, external partners, and governance stakeholders
- Bring previous C-suite or senior leadership experience (e.g. CFO, COO, Finance Director)
- Bonus: Experience in venture-backed companies, investor reporting, fundraising, or capital raising activities
All interested candidates are invited to submit their CV and cover letter to bnzrecruiting@gmail.com by August 12, 2025.
