Position Summary

IHI is seeking Clinical Officer Interns to work at its Clinical Trials Facility in Bagamoyo. The role involves conducting participant recruitment, follow-up visits, and delivering clinical care to study participants in line with research protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend community sensitization and retention meetings for study volunteers.

  • Diagnose and treat patients according to national standard treatment guidelines.

  • Review laboratory results and address related data queries.

  • Participate in internal, external, and departmental meetings.

  • Contribute to the development of SOPs and study documentation.

  • Recruit, follow up, and retain study participants according to protocol and SOPs.

  • Ensure compliance with approved protocols, SOPs, and ethical guidelines.

  • Supervise study procedures in line with ICH-GCP, NIMR, and TFDA requirements.

  • Support community engagement coordinators in outreach and stakeholder linkage.

  • Assist in recruitment, sensitization, and other community-related activities.

  • Perform other duties assigned by the Project Leader.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine.

  • Registered and licensed to practice by the Medical Council of Tanganyika.

Skills & Competencies

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data management tools).

  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

  • Strong communication skills in English & Swahili.

  • Time management and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Self-motivated, ethical, and collaborative mindset.

  • Adherence to IHI core values: Integrity, Initiative, Excellence, Equity, Accountability.
