DEPUTY CFO
A high calibre Chartered Accountant is sought to fill the role of Deputy CFO for a Botswana retail group operating across Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa. This role requires a financially savvy professional with a commercial mindset, eager to be part of a driven team and take responsibility for a wide range of financial management and related functions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate ownership, accountability, and proven management and organizational skills.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Financial management, planning, analysis, control, and reporting (including consolidations and AFS)
- Tax management (transfer pricing, cross-jurisdictional considerations, and forex)
- Governance and risk management (regulatory issues, compliance, and related reporting)
- Stakeholder engagement (banks, service providers, auditors)
- Treasury, funding, and cross-border transactions
- Project management
- Operations team engagement (building relationships with Operations divisions)
- Financial disciplines management (systems, controls, and procedures)
- Annual audit management and coordination
- People management (building, developing, and managing a large team)
Key Requirements
- Fully qualified Chartered Accountant with at least 10 years post-qualification experience
- MBA qualification
- Proven senior/executive level experience in corporate financial reporting and management
- Experience in enhancing systems, controls, procedures, and risk management
- Technically and commercially astute, with strategic decision-making and scenario analysis skills
- Board and corporate reporting experience
- Solid project management skills and ability to develop teams
- Audit experience and management
- Leadership and organizational skills, including experience managing large, diverse teams
- Excellent communication skills, able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and work with a broad range of people
- Highly Advantageous
- CIMA qualification
- Retail / FMCG experience
- Exposure to cross-jurisdictional considerations (tax and transfer pricing)

- The role is Gaborone-based and requires relocation if necessary.
