1. Background

The Horticultural Exporters Association of Rwanda (HEAR), in partnership with Alliance for a Green revolution in Africa (AGRA) and Mastercard Foundation, is implementing a 36-month project titled “EnhancingMarketAccessandInclusivityinRwanda’sHorticultureValueChain.” The project aims to accelerate Rwanda’s avocado value chain growth and global competitiveness through improved data systems, contract farming models, training, and inclusive market linkages targeting youth and women.

The job description and key responsibilities are as follows

FIELD SUPPORT OFFICER

Duty Station: Based in one of the avocado-producing districts, with extensive field travel.

Duration: One year renewable based on performance review.

Key Duties

  • Mobilizeand engage farmers, youth, and young women in project activities such as trainings, workshops, and awareness sessions.
  • Assistin organizing field events, including logistics for training sessions, surveys, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Workclosely with local cooperatives and aggregators to support contract farming adoption and implementation.
  • Facilitate the collection of accurate data on farmer participation, training attendance, and avocado production activities.
  • Providefield-level feedback to the National Coordinator on implementation progress, risks, and community needs.
  • Supportthe dissemination of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and ensure proper communication and visibility of the project at community level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supportthe implementation of field-level project activities in avocado-producing districts across Rwanda.
  • Provide logistical and technical assistance to community mobilization, training, and data collection efforts of youth and women participants.
  • Work closely as the primary liaison between HEAR’s national project team and district- level stakeholders, including extension agents, cooperatives, aggregators, and local leaders.
  • Assist in ensuring that all project interventions at the district level align with the overall work plan and results framework.
  • Supportsetup of local coordination platforms and contract farming
  • Contributeto monitoring, evaluation, and learning by collecting field data and supporting quality assurance processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’sdegree in Agriculture and Food science, Rural Development, or Extension
  • Atleast 1-2 years of relevant experience in community mobilization or agricultural
  • Abilityto work with rural communities, especially Marginalized
  • Goodknowledge of local context and fluency in
