Job Purpose / Mission

The Head of Human Resources will lead and implement HR strategies that foster a high-performance, employee-focused culture. This role ensures alignment of HR practices with ENGIE Energy Access’s strategic objectives, including recruitment, training, employee engagement, performance management, and organizational development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead country workforce planning and end-to-end recruitment for key positions, collaborating with the global team.

  • Build and maintain a strong employer brand in Tanzania.

  • Implement onboarding frameworks, HR programs, and monitor HR administration standards.

  • Develop and oversee HR budget and ensure compliance with financial allocations.

  • Lead performance management systems, departmental goal-setting, and training initiatives.

  • Collaborate on compensation and benefits design, variable pay systems, and salary structures.

  • Drive organizational development including succession planning, employee retention, and change management.

  • Ensure HR compliance with Tanzanian labor laws and global policies.

  • Oversee payroll administration and manage employee onboarding/offboarding processes.

  • Promote a positive workplace culture, employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Prepare periodic reports for management and the board.

  • Monitor HSE risks and uphold ethical standards within the company.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • CHRP/SHRM/CIPD certification is required.

  • 5+ years HR generalist experience and 4+ years in a leadership HR role.

  • Strong knowledge of Tanzanian labor laws.

  • Experience in HRIS/HRMIS and payroll systems.

  • Excellent communication, coaching, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • High level of confidentiality, integrity, and organizational skills.

  • Passion for sustainable energy and community development is an added advantage.

  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
