HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER

Operating within the tourism industry for over three decades now, Uncharted Africa Safari Co. owns and operates award-winning Safari Camps in Botswana. UASCo is currently seeking a highly experienced individual to join its team.

The human resources officer will provide comprehensive human resource support across key functions, including recruitment and selection, employee relations, training and development, HR compliance, information management, payroll coordination, and health and safety.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plans and executes the recruitment process, in liaison with line management and other relevant parties.

  • Provides training and development services across camps.

  • Supports disciplinary and grievance processes through documentation, meeting coordination, and compliance tracking.

  • Coordinates employee onboarding and manages the full probation process, including tracking timelines, supporting performance reviews, and facilitating confirmation or extension decisions.

  • Participates in staff engagement initiatives and exit interviews to capture feedback and identify trends.

  • Collects and verifies monthly payroll inputs such as overtime, new hires, resignations, change in employment status, and so on.

  • Ensures timely submission of payroll-related information to the HR Manager and/or payroll administrator/s.

  • Maintains comprehensive and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation.

  • Supports compliance with employee registration, licensing and certification renewals e.g. First Aid, Food handler’s certification, Guide licensing etc.

  • Participates in SHE related activities, as required. Ensures compliance with regulatory and adopted standards.

Minimum Role Requirements:

  • Degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Occupational Psychology or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in applying Botswana labour legislation in HR practice.

  • A valid driver’s license.

  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role.

  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

  • Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic work environment

  • Solid understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment legislation

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with HR/payroll systems is an added advantage
