DIRECTOR
Job Purpose
The role is responsible for maintaining aircraft to the highest professional standards, ensuring full compliance with all applicable legislation, industry best practices, and manufacturer guidelines. The Director will plan, organize, direct, and control all operations of the North West Air Maintenance facility, with a focus on leadership, customer service, and technical expertise. The primary objective is to ensure maximum operational availability of the Safari Air fleet, supported by third-party clients.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Management

Oversee the company’s financial performance, ensuring sustainability and growth.

Delegate responsibilities and supervise senior management and staff.

Provide guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance.

Promote the long-term success of the company for stakeholders.

Enforce independent judgment and reasonable care.

Ensure company policies, procedures, and strategies are clearly communicated.

Maintain consistent implementation across all levels.
Operational Oversight & Production Management
-
Oversee daily operations to ensure smooth workflow and compliance.

Ensure compliance with all regulations and internal company policies.

Plan, organize, and direct activities and programs.
-
Ensure adequate resources for production demands.
-
Implement measures to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
-
Regularly assess resource needs.
Compliance & Regulatory Management
-
Ensure compliance with CAAB regulations and internal policies.
-
Serve as liaison between North West Air and CAAB.
-
Ensure full implementation and adherence to Safety and Compliance Management Systems (SMS and CMS).

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aviation regulations.
Financial Management & Accountability
-
Oversee preparation of annual capital, equipment, and operational budgets.

Monitor departmental budgets, ensuring expenditures remain within limits.

Approve and monitor cost-saving initiatives.
-
Report on overall financial performance.

Liaise with the CEO and Chobe Holdings Executive Committee (EXCO).
Team Development & Performance Management

Design and implement a comprehensive employee training program.

Provide regular performance feedback.
-
Address disciplinary actions as necessary.

Monitor staffing levels and workloads.
-
Conduct regular performance reviews.
Internal & External Communication

Foster a positive and productive work environment.

Represent the company in meetings with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and partners.
Qualifications and Experience
-
Diploma in Business Management or equivalent (AME License optional).

7 years in management.

Experience with large teams and business operations.

Proficiency in Aviation Regulation Framework.

Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).

Knowledge of aviation operations and compliance management systems.

Broad knowledge of aircraft, categories, and types North West Air maintains.
