Junior Gyro Surveyor

CMS (Tanzania) Limited is a highly respected mineral exploration drilling company with operations in Tanzania. An industry leader in safety with ambitious growth strategies, we are seeking applications for the following position from dedicated and professional individuals who would like to join our dynamic team. This position will provide the opportunity to be part of a team that contributes towards the exciting growth of the mining industry in Tanzania.

As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking dedicated Junior Gyro Surveyors to join our team.

Junior Gyro Surveyor

Location: Geita Tanzania

Junior Gyro Surveyors will assist with the operation, maintenance, and reporting of gyro survey tools used in directional drilling, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with safety standards under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up and operating gyro survey instruments (gyro tools, inclinometers, etc.) at drill sites
  • Support the collection and validation of downhole survey data
  • Help with downloading, processing, and reporting survey data to supervisors and clients
  • Follow operational procedures and ensure compliance with safety and QA/QC standards
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness, readiness, and assist in routine calibration and minor troubleshooting
  • Accurately document all field operations and observations in daily reports
  • Support the team during mobilization and demobilization of equipment to various locations
  • Liaise respectfully with drillers, geologists, and client representatives
  • Participate in training and development programs to build expertise in gyro survey systems
  • Ensure no damage occurs to gyro equipment during operations
  • Follow all HSE protocols, ensure proper housekeeping
  • Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Other duties as directed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in related field
  • Basic understanding of directional drilling and survey principles
  • Some exposure to gyro tools is an added advantage
  • Excellent English and Swahili language skills, both written and verbal
  • Outstanding organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments

Experience Required:

  • Previous experience within the drilling / mining industry will be an added advantage
  • Experience working in multinational and culturally diverse environments

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be fit and able to perform the inherent requirements of the job
