Job Description
The Co-operative Bank is seeking a Loan Monitoring and Recovery Analyst to strengthen its credit risk management framework. The role is responsible for monitoring loan portfolios, identifying potential defaults, and implementing efficient recovery strategies for overdue accounts. The position plays a critical role in safeguarding asset quality, minimizing credit risk, and ensuring the Bank’s financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Loan Monitoring

Track and analyze loan portfolio performance, including arrears, repayment trends, and delinquency ratios.

Conduct regular reviews of customer accounts to identify early warning signs of default.

Monitor compliance with loan covenants and credit policies.

Prepare and submit reports on portfolio-at-risk (PAR), non-performing loans (NPLs), and recovery progress.

Provide feedback to the credit department and recommend risk-mitigation measures.
2. Loan Recovery

Develop and implement effective recovery strategies for delinquent loans.

Engage clients through calls, visits, and formal demand notices.

Negotiate repayment schedules and settlements in line with Bank policies.

Work with legal teams and external agencies on complex recovery cases.

Recommend loan write-offs in compliance with regulatory and institutional guidelines.
3. Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with branch managers, relationship officers, and business units to enhance loan monitoring processes.

Train and support lending staff on monitoring, collections, and early intervention practices.

Build and maintain professional relationships with clients to promote a strong repayment culture.
4. Risk Management & Compliance

Ensure all recovery activities comply with regulatory, legal, and internal policies.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of recovery actions for audit and compliance.

Provide insights into credit policy reviews based on observed risks and market trends.
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.

3–5 years’ experience in loan monitoring, credit analysis, or recovery within banking, microfinance, or SACCOs.

Strong knowledge of credit risk management, monitoring tools, and recovery strategies.

Experience in commercial lending or microfinance recovery is an added advantage.
