MECHANICAL FOREMAN – WINDERS/SHAFT SERVICES
Job Summary
Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator – Mechanical, the Mechanical Foreman- Winders and Shaft Services supervises the maintenance and repairs of shaft and winding production equipment. The position plans all aspects of mechanical, and hydraulic equipment repairs and shaft operations.
Key Responsibilities

Analyze and supervise repairs, materials, tools, safe work conditions

Diagnose and repair faults on equipment and machinery in operation.

Analyse breakdowns to identify the root causes

Conduct regular equipment inspections
-
Investigation of incidents/accidents in area of responsibility

Implement and control preventative maintenance
-
Spares and equipment availability
-
Compile technical reports, method statements and risk assessments
-
People effectiveness
-
Legal compliance
-
Safety, health and environmental compliance
Qualifications & Experience
-
National Craft Certificate or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

At least 6 years post qualification maintenance experience with mine winders and shaft maintenance, with at least 3 years at supervisory level.

Knowledge and experience in the maintenance and operation of vertical shafts & wind plants, winding ropes & conveyances.

Proficient in troubleshooting and reading schematics for pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical repairs.

Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and other systems.

Underground mine experience is required.

Class B Driver’s License.
