Médecins du Monde (MdM) is an international humanitarian organization providing medical care to vulnerable populations worldwide. Active in Tanzania since 1992, MdM focuses on harm reduction, HIV/AIDS programs, sexual and reproductive health, and innovative health interventions for key populations.

MdM is currently implementing the CUTTS HEP C project to advance hepatitis C prevention, care, and treatment for people who inject drugs, supporting Tanzania’s progress toward WHO’s 2030 hepatitis elimination goals.

Position Overview

Title: Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Contract: Fixed Term – 12 months
Salary: TZS 2,155,144 (gross)
Benefits: Private health insurance, 13th month salary, food & transport allowances

The M&E Officer reports to the General Coordinator and works closely with project coordinators and managers across the Tanzania mission. This role ensures the quality, accountability, and effectiveness of MdM programs through robust monitoring and evaluation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • M&E System & Implementation: Develop and maintain M&E frameworks, tools, and guidelines; ensure donor alignment

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Coordinate data collection, verification, and analysis; maintain data quality and confidentiality

  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare timely reports, manage project documentation, and capture lessons learned

  • Capacity Building: Train staff and partners on M&E methodologies; provide ongoing technical support

  • Learning & Accountability: Facilitate learning reviews; support feedback mechanisms for community engagement

  • Collaboration & Coordination: Liaise with coordinators, field teams, donors, and partners; represent MdM in M&E-related meetings

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Degree/diploma in M&E, Data Management, Public Health, or related field

  • Minimum 2 years’ M&E experience and 3 years in development projects within INGOs/NGOs

  • Experience with key populations or harm reduction programs is an advantage

  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills

  • Proficient in MS Office and data management software

  • Fluent in English and Swahili

  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and meet strict deadlines

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m
