The Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) is a Christian, Membership, Non-Partisan, Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs) dedicated to the empowerment of the community (especially women, youth and children) to contribute to the attainment of a just society through rights-based approaches and sustainable interventions. YWCA is one of the oldest women’s organizations and since its inception in Kitwe, Zambia in 1957, YWCA has continued to stand at the forefront of social change and tackling gender injustices such as gender-based violence, including child marriage and sexual reproductive health rights violations.
YWCA with support from OXFAM in Zambia will be implementing a project CHOICE. The project is to be implemented in Chibombo and Chisamba, with other project partners operating in Namwala and Itezhi Tezhi of Central and Southern provinces respectively. The project is tailored to increased bodily autonomy, agency, and enjoyment of sexual and reproductive health and rights by those experiencing poverty, marginalization, and/or vulnerability, particularly women, girls, adolescents, and persons of diverse SOGIESC, in targeted districts of Zambia.
The main objectives/expected outcomes of the Grant are to Strengthen agency of women, girls, adolescents, persons of diverse SOGIESC and other marginalized groups, in exercising their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) to adopt healthy behaviors and practices and Increased access of health systems to comprehensive, resilient, gender-responsive, youth-centered sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information and services
YWCA seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced candidates for the roles of:
1. Project Officer- X 1
Project Officer Main
Responsibilities
- Implementation and Supervision of the Oxfam supported All Inclusive Education Programme.
- Coordinate & implement school and community led interventions in conjunction with various stakeholder such as government, traditional leaders, community leaders and parents.
- The creation and running of Girls Clubs (Safe Spaces) in identified schools.
- Submit weekly/monthly reports to regional and national offices as and when requested.
- Attend and participate in project, donor and partner meetings in relation to the project and scope of work.
- In liaison with the project coordinator, represent YWCA in partnership meetings at District level.
- Any other activities assigned by the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in social sciences, education or any related qualifications.
- At least three years’ experience in an NGO.
- Experience in the management and coordination of school-based scholarships for vulnerable learners Able to communicate in local language –added advantage.
- Knowledge in gender inequalities access to SRH services.
- Experience in training and/or facilitation of community development.
- Passionate about transformational gender approaches.
- The ability to gather, process, and communicate information effectively, often in the form of written or oral reports.
- Good interpersonal skills and a team player.
- Able to work with minimum supervision.
2. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer – X 1
Project Officer Main
Responsibilities
- Leads the CHOICE project monitoring and evaluation activities in line with the project’s performance monitoring plan.
- Ensures that the electronic data management system of the project is functional and that data is cleaned, entered, and analyzed in a timely manner and accurate manner.
- Provide technical assistance and leadership, for the projects M&E systems.
- Ensure that appropriate M&E mechanisms are incorporated into work plans and reports.
- Conduct capacity building activities for district project implementors to support the collection, analysis, presentation, and utilization of high-quality data for improved programming.
- Develop and oversee implementation of the data quality assurance checks.
- Monitor program performance based on the objectives.
- Conducts regular site visits aimed to provide strategic guidance and mentoring to field staff on various aspects of program implementation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Degree in Demography (preferable), Development studies or other social sciences.
- Practical experience in Gender, Sexual Reproductive health.
- At least three (3) years of experience working in a related field with a CSOs/NGOs.
- Experience working for an international non-government organization is an advantage.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• A strong knowledge of Statistical packages such as – SPSS, R, Stata, KoBoToolbox and Python.
