Job Summary
The Mwenge Maternity Hospital (MMH) Manager is responsible for the overall management, smooth operations, and clinical quality at MST’s largest facility. This includes leading a team of clinical and non-clinical staff, ensuring outstanding client care and experience, and driving financial sustainability through service diversification, efficiency, and income growth.
The role also focuses on expanding MST’s maternity services footprint, identifying viable opportunities for sector growth, and positioning MMH as a leading maternal and child health service provider in Tanzania.
Key Responsibilities
1. Expanding MST’s Maternity Footprint

Develop a 3-year sustainability/business plan for current and future maternity facilities.

Present detailed business cases for new maternity service investments.

Identify opportunities for service diversification and income generation.

Design and manage marketing plans in collaboration with the Marketing team.
2. Hospital Management
-
Develop and implement SOPs for key initiatives (e.g., client referral schemes, ANC engagement, cross-selling).

Oversee pricing, market visits, branding, and demand generation activities.

Enhance operations, client experience, and clinical quality while maximizing service income.

Utilize data from QTA results, exit interviews, and mystery clients to inform quality improvements.
3. Client Safety & Quality Assurance

Develop a monthly maternity quality dashboard with key KPIs.

Work with the Clinical Quality team to ensure compliance with MSI protocols (competency assessments, admission risk assessments, obstetric record reviews).

Implement client-centered SOPs, including feedback management, duty of care, and incident communication.
4. Staff Management, Collaboration & Communication

Lead, mentor, and support staff (midwives, nurses, support staff) to deliver high-quality maternity services.

Facilitate continuous professional development and capacity-building.

Represent the maternity unit in management meetings and external engagements.
5. Resource & Inventory Management

Monitor and manage maternity ward supplies, equipment, and medications.

Ensure availability and functionality of emergency obstetric care supplies.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or a Medical-related discipline.

Master’s degree in Public Health is an added advantage.
-
At least 5 years of senior management experience in healthcare programmes/facility operations.

Strong leadership, public health management, and financial management skills.

In-depth knowledge of the Tanzanian health sector and community health service delivery.

Experience in staff capacity development and team leadership.

Excellent communication, networking, and advocacy skills.

Proven analytical, IT, and organizational abilities.
