PAEDIATRIC HAEMATOLOGY ONCOLOGIST

CORE ACTIVITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Responsibility A: Provide evidence-based medical care to children with cancer and blood diseases

• Take history, perform physical examination, and initiate diagnostic work up of children in allocated areas

• Provide emergency care and resuscitation of children in care areas

• Assist and treat complications of cancer and/or blood diseases and their treatment in care areas

• Assign clinically appropriate treatment protocols for new patients entering therapy

Responsibility B: Organise and manage day to day clinical activities

• Participate in out-of-hours (night and weekend) on-call clinical service according to the on-call roster or as required by the Executive Director

• Ensure adequate preparation for clinical activities (e.g ward rounds) including patient medical evaluations, laboratory and diagnostic studies and necessary equipment

• Record and maintain succinct, legible, and accurate medical notes for all clinical activities in allocated PHO areas

Responsibility C: Participate in educational activities in PHO

• Be innovators in education and clinical training of students, trainees, and health professionals, attracting and developing the next generation of leaders in Paediatric Haematology-Oncology

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Proficiency in English

• Medical Degree e.g. MB ChB MD

• Completion of post-graduate (residency) training in Pediatrics

• Completion of sub specialty training in Paediatric Haematology Oncology

• Possession of an unexpired, active practitioners medical license from a licensing authority

• Certificate of Good standing from a local licensing authority
