Project Boilermaker

Master Farmer Feeds (Pty) Ltd has a vacancy for fully qualified and experienced Project Boilermaker at its Feed Mill, Nutri Feeds Botswana in Pilane. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing steel structures and components used in the construction and maintenance of a high-capacity feed mill facility.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Undertake projects to construct, assemble, installation (i.e., hammermill)  and repair stationary boilers, feed bins, storage tanks, and other industrial vessels that hold liquids and gases, adhering to blueprints and specifications
• Fabricate and modify / replace components such as conveyor drive, tail end using metalworking tools, machinery, welding equipment (including arc-welding, oxy-acetylene torch, plasma cutters), and other specialized tools
• Interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings to plan work sequences and determine material requirements
• Perform welding, cutting, fitting, and bolting tasks to ensure the structural integrity and leak-proof joints of assembled vessels.
• Collaborate effectively with other artisans, departments and the production team to resolve operational issues and coordinate activities.
• Strictly adhere to all safety guidelines, protocols, regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment (g., Lockout/Tag Out, Hot Works, Confined Spaces, Elevated Work etc)
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance data, material usage, and breakdown reports.
• Ensure scheduled production maintenance are performed.
• Ensure a high standard of housekeeping in the work area.
• Undertake any other duties that falls within your skillset and expertise as maybe requested from time to time.

To qualify for the position, candidates will require the following:

• National Craft Certificate (NCC) in Welding and Fabrication, Mechanical Boilermaker Trade Certificate, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 3 – 5 years of post-apprenticeship experience as a Boilermaker, preferably in a manufacturing, plant, or heavy industrial environment. Experience in a feed mill setting is highly advantageous.
• Proven proficiency in various welding techniques and metal fabrication.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety standards.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Physically fit and able to handle the demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Must be a citizen of Botswana
