About AHDI
AHDI is a local NGO dedicated to empowering children with cerebral palsy and other allied conditions to reach their full potential through inclusive education, quality healthcare, and holistic support services. The Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) matrix guides the implementation of all activities, considering all aspects of a child’s life.
About the Project
The two-year project, “Introducing Sustainable Farming to Promote Climate Resilience among Smallholder Farmers,” is supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) under GIZ. The project aims to enhance climate adaptability in Kafue District, focusing on vulnerable populations such as persons with disabilities, women, and youth.
Job Purpose
The Project Officer will support the implementation of project activities, engage stakeholders, and ensure project objectives are met effectively and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities

Mobilize farmers, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities.

Provide technical support in organic and climate-smart agriculture.

Promote adoption of environmentally sustainable farming practices.

Analyze climate vulnerabilities and develop localized adaptation strategies.

Manage demonstration plots effectively.

Liaise with government departments, partner organizations, and local leaders.

Prepare project plans, monitoring tools, and periodic reports.

Conduct trainings and capacity-building sessions for stakeholders.

Collect and document data on project activities, beneficiaries, and outcomes.

Promote disability inclusion in all project activities.

Support finance, procurement, and logistics planning.

Ensure project implementation aligns with planned objectives.
Academic Qualifications
-
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Agribusiness, Climate-Smart Agriculture, or related field.

Training in project planning/management is an advantage.
Required Experience & Skills
-
Minimum 3 years’ experience in agriculture, climate adaptation, or community development.

Experience engaging multiple stakeholders and rural communities.
-
Proven ability to implement climate-resilient farming practices (e.g., water conservation, drought-tolerant crops).

Ability to develop agribusiness/value-chain initiatives for smallholder farmers.

Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
-
Knowledge of budgeting, financial management, and donor-funded projects.

Excellent computer literacy; proficiency in English and at least two local languages is preferred.
