Job Description
The Co-operative Bank is seeking a Relationship Manager – Government & Corporate Banking to manage a diverse portfolio that includes Government institutions, Manufacturing firms, Multinational companies, Diplomatic missions, Religious institutions, and Private Corporates. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving deposit growth, income generation, and customer retention in line with the Bank’s overall strategy.
Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships, acting as the primary liaison between the Bank and clients.

Identify and negotiate new business opportunities with Government and Corporate clients to grow deposits and income in line with business targets.

Regularly visit existing clients to strengthen retention, promote bank products, and enhance the Bank’s brand image.

Support branches in deposit mobilization and cross-selling of banking products across the customer value chain.

Advise clients on product selection tailored to their financial needs.

Monitor, review, and manage your deposit portfolio, recommending interventions to achieve optimal performance.

Organize and participate in customer business forums to strengthen client engagement.

Provide new business leads from contractors, suppliers, and staff of Government/Corporate institutions.

Ensure the Bank’s visibility at major Government events and forums.

Conduct quarterly analysis of Government business and market share, providing strategic recommendations to management.

Grow profitability through increased product usage per customer.

Dedicate at least 80% of time to client visits and calls for business acquisition and retention.

Deliver professional financial advisory services to Government officials and institutional stakeholders.

Collaborate with branches to assess specific financial needs and recommend tailored solutions.

Prepare and present formal proposals, pitches, and reports to clients and events.

Develop and implement an annual business plan aligned with the Bank’s overall strategy.

Prepare periodic business trend reports to guide decision-making.

Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Banking & Finance, Accounting, Financial Management, or related field.

A Master’s degree and/or professional certification is an added advantage.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Government and Corporate banking or related business development roles.

Strong knowledge of banking products and ability to sell based on customer KYC.

Familiarity with the business environment, regulatory frameworks, industry practices, and corporate operations.
