Position Summary
IHI seeks a Research Officer to contribute to field and laboratory research under the Anopheles Africa II Project. The role focuses on understanding and exploiting vulnerabilities in malaria vector populations to achieve significant suppression or local elimination in targeted areas.
Key Responsibilities

Investigate environmental, ecological, and operational factors influencing malaria vector suppression or elimination.

Develop and validate tools for measuring mosquito populations from high to critically low densities.

Identify and target vulnerabilities across mosquito life stages for control interventions.

Test and adapt elimination strategies for various ecological and operational contexts.

Manage, analyze, and interpret field and laboratory data.

Produce reports, manuscripts, policy briefs, and present findings to scientific and stakeholder audiences.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Entomology, Biology, Environmental Health, Biotechnology, Laboratory Sciences, Epidemiology, or related field.

2–3 years of experience in vector control, entomological surveillance, or related research.

Proficiency in mosquito sampling techniques and species identification.

Experience in data analysis using R, Python, Stata, or equivalent.

Fieldwork experience in challenging environments.
