Internship Overview
The Senior Intern – Land Use & Natural Resource Management will support SNV’s field activities, contributing to biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable management of land and water resources. This is a junior-level role suitable for candidates with hands-on experience in environmental management and community-based projects.
Key Responsibilities

Support land use planning and supervise land parcel demarcation, including issuing Certificates of Customary Right of Occupancy (CCROs) in collaboration with local authorities.

Assist in preparing Joint Forest Resource Management Plans (JFRMPs) and Community-Based Forest Management (CBFM) plans; facilitate village forest gazettement.

Strengthen capacities of Village Land Use Management Committees (VLUMs), Village Natural Resource Committees (VNRCs), and Water User Associations (WUAs).

Support beekeeping groups and promote integration into the honey value chain.

Empower women and youth champions in natural resource management and local governance.

Produce GIS data and satellite maps to illustrate land use, forest cover, and protected riparian zones.

Promote climate-smart agriculture, reforestation, carbon sequestration, and forest regeneration practices.

Engage with key stakeholders including local authorities, TANAPA, NGOs, and community groups.

Monitor and evaluate project performance, suggest corrective actions, and support environmental education initiatives.

Assist in drafting project progress reports in line with SNV and donor requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Forest Conservation, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Land Use Planning, or related field.

Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in natural resource management, conservation, land use planning, or environmental management in Tanzania.

Expertise in land use and natural resource monitoring tools.

Experience facilitating multi-stakeholder platforms and community dialogues.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS).

Knowledge of Tanzania’s land and environmental policies, climate resilience, and Gender Equity & Social Inclusion (GESI) approaches is an advantage.

Strong communication skills in English and Swahili, including report writing and presentations.

Willingness to travel to remote rural areas.
