JOB DETAILS:

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support to the wildlife teams in planning for conservation initiatives.
  • Assist the wildlife teams in supervising and managing sustainable natural resources in the specific wildlife protected areas.
  • Work with the conservation teams in ideation and implementation of youth engagement initiatives.
  • Provide support to the conservation team in the management and mentoring of environmental groups.
  • In collaboration with communication personnel, liaise with Community and document the impacts related to livelihood investments done within respective landscape.
  • Provide support in activity report writing and provide data inputs to WWF technical progress reports.
  • Perform other activities relating to conservation as defined by WWF Uganda Country Office and supervisor.
  • Maintain a good image of the organization to ensure that WWF remains among the most respected in the country and beyond.
  • Produce performance reports quarterly and at the end of the internship period for assessment.
  • Travel with project staff for field assignments in areas where WWF Uganda has projects.

PROFILE
Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management, Natural resources management, Forestry, Environmental Science, Tourism, or any related courses.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Good computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
  • Willingness and ability to frequently travel within the project area.
  • Ability to socialise and participate in community activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates ability and willingness to work in a diverse, multicultural, and intergenerational environment.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate workload.
  • Fluency in Runyakitara is an added advantage.
