ARTISAN ELECTRICIAN
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
To carry out electrical inspections, installations, system operations, maintenance and control activities to ensure network availability, quality of supply, and operatinal safety in the process plant and associated facilities.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Testing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintenance of all types of electrical equipment.
- Assisting in the development, construction and installation of new electrical systems.
- Checking installation wiring to ensure that it complies with statutory and IEE regulations.
- Carrying out inspection of network field equipment and reports to Supervisor for input into maintenance schedule.
- Attending to system and equipment faults, and supply disruption issues to ensure timeous restoration of supply, by checking nature of problem, carrying out standard procedure to determine cause of fault.
- Diagnosing and analysing any equipment mal-operation and carrying out repairs in order to maintain desired performance according to manufacturer’s specification and maintain continuity of supply.
- Carrying out maintenance on network equipment in accordance with approved maintenance schedule to ensure availability of plant, and in compliance with company SHEC procedures.
- Preparing system switching programs for approval and carrying out network switching for isolation and restoration of power supply.
- Collecting field data on network equipment for availability of information for planning and operations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- Recognised National Craft Certificate (Electrical).
- A minimum of four (4) years (after completion of Artisan Development Program, ADP) post qualification experience in the Mining or heavy industry environment.
