Job Purpose
The Business Development Officer will support the Direct and Alternative Channel Manager in driving consistent sales growth within the channel. The role reports directly to the Sales Manager of Direct and Alternative Channels.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure the renewal process achieves at least a 90% renewal rate
-
Supervise and oversee licensing applications for all sales executives, financial and independent financial advisors
-
Coordinate training and induction of new agents in liaison with the manager
-
Oversee bid preparation and timely delivery for agents
-
Prepare and deliver presentations, and support sales executives in client presentations
-
Strengthen collaboration with underwriting and claims departments to improve service delivery
-
Engage in data analysis to provide actionable insights for channel growth
-
Track agent performance, liaise with unit managers, and recommend actions to boost production
-
Develop and implement new business growth strategies for agents and sales executives
-
Follow up on outstanding premiums, IPF, bank credits, and cancelled business
-
Prepare accurate reports for business strategy meetings in consultation with the manager

Generate competitive quotes for new and renewal business

Ensure timely issuance of policies and endorsements to clients
-
Support recruitment of reliable and strategic agents, SFEs, and partners
-
Follow up on requisitions in ERP and Image Now for expense approvals
-
Ensure agents and SFEs receive timely and accurate commission payments
-
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, agents, and partners

Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Deliver on departmental KPIs and personal scorecard objectives

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (Insurance specialization preferred)

Professional qualification in Insurance (e.g., CII certificate)

2–4 years’ sales experience (insurance sector preferred)

Strong knowledge of insurance industry practices
-
Proven ability to manage bank and channel partner relationships
