The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), Arusha branch, is seeking applications for an Individual Contractor – Record Assistant. This is a temporary position focused on the management and preservation of ICTR and IRMCT physical and digital archives.

Role Overview
The Record Assistant will support the Mechanism Archives and Records Section (MARS) in handling, preserving, and organizing physical and digital records. The role involves assisting with the digitization of photo exhibits, updating metadata in the Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS), and ensuring proper storage and accessibility of all records.
This position requires physical work, including lifting materials up to 12 kg, moving trolleys with loads up to 150 kg, and prolonged periods of standing.
Key Responsibilities

Implement Records Retention Schedules and other record disposition instructions.

Accession, arrange, describe, store, and preserve physical and digital archives.

Facilitate the transfer of records from client offices to the Section’s repositories.

Process and store records consignments to required standards under archivist guidance.

Maintain accurate documentation of record transfers, retrievals, and loans.

Assist with shelving and overall organization of the repository.

Respond to requests from client offices for retrieval, return, or update of records.
Qualifications & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years of administrative or clerical experience, preferably in archives or records management.

Experience using EDRMS or similar electronic document management systems.

Previous experience with UN International Criminal Tribunals is an advantage.

Remuneration & Other Information

Daily rate: Approximately 250,000 TZS.

The position is locally recruited and limited to the IRMCT Arusha branch.

Contract extensions depend on mandate continuation and funding availability.
