Claims Analyst

The purpose of this position is to manage the end-to-end claims process, from notification to claim release, while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities

  • Register new claims and ensure all required documentation is collected for processing.
  • Assign assessors to conduct claim assessments and document their findings.
  • Prepare file notes for approval, ensuring all claims are thoroughly vetted before further processing.
  • Issue repair authority to approved garages, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from fitters for windscreen repairs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality service.
  • Handle walk-in client complaints, providing timely resolutions and customer support.
  • Analyze claims to determine validity, risk exposure, and appropriate action.
  • Liaise with underwriting and finance teams to investigate and resolve any claim discrepancies.
  • Process payments for clients and garages, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
  • Conduct monthly reserving and quarterly reserve reviews to ensure accurate financial forecasting.
  • Identify recovery matters to be escalated to the Recovery Officer for further action
  • Follow up on the receipting of excess contribution or any other amounts payable to the company with the finance department.
  • Respond to claim inquiries from clients, agents, and other stakeholders.
  • Appoint service providers, negotiate service costs, and oversee the processing of their invoices.
  • Prepare initial demand letters for third-party claims and ensure follow-up actions are taken.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints related to claims processing in a timely manner, ensuring excellent customer service provision.
  • Oversee the end-to-end processing of both motor and non-motor claims, ensuring compliance with policies and industry regulations.
  • Any other responsibilities assigned to the jobholder by the supervisor from time to time.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in insurance or related field
  • A Diploma in Insurance is an added advantage

Related Job Experience/Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience in insurance industry.

Database Administrator

The purpose of the job is to manage and maintain the organization’s Database Systems, ensuring their performance, security, and availability. The role involves installing, configuring, and troubleshooting database systems, ensuring data integrity, implementing backup strategies, and optimizing database performance.

Key responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS).
  • Monitor database performance, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Implement and manage database backups and disaster recovery plans to guarantee data integrity and availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing support for users and other departments.
  • Ensure database security by implementing access control, encryption, and other security measures.
  • Perform regular database performance tuning and optimization to improve speed and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation, including system configurations, backup schedules, and user manuals.
  • Collaborate with developers to design and implement databases that support application development needs.
  • Assist in the development of business continuity plans related to database operations.
  • Support audits and compliance checks related to database systems and security.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, security protocols, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Assist in database migrations, upgrades, and patch management to keep systems up to date.
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as data archiving, deletion, and optimization.
  • Any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor from time to time

Educational Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Higher Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Oracle Certified Associate / Professional (OCA/P) or similar Certifications are highly advantageous.
  • Systems Development and DevOps skills would be beneficial
  • Familiarity with the Data Protection Act (2019) and related security standards would be beneficial.

Job Experience/Qualifications

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in database administration, system development or a related field.

Technical & Behavioral Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of database management systems (DBMS), including SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
  • Expertise in database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Must demonstrate high integrity and ethical practice
  • Must demonstrate ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Must be a team player who is able to work cordially in teams
  • Must demonstrate ability to multitask.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to operational effectiveness
  • Should have ability to solve problems by applying relevant business knowledge

  • Must be a flexible person, who is willing to learn and able to work flexible hours to achieve goals.
