Job Summary
Product Controller plays a key role in ensuring independent validation, substantiation and reporting of financial information for Markets and Treasury businesses.
Job Description
Accountability: Product Control and Governance. Time split : 80%
- Reporting of daily, monthly and year to date P&L for assigned desks
- Ensure the assigned portfolio is accurately represented within the general ledger
- Ensure correct fair valuation of the products handled in the assigned desk
- Provide daily, monthly, and quarterly beneficial commercial analysis of Foreign Exchange Trading
- Build good working relationships with other departments
- Ensure compliance of trading limits for the assigned desk
- Daily substantiation of balance sheet which include agreeing balances to third party records, investigating all breaks, and resolving them in a timely manner
- Analyse and report on material adjustments to the P&L, including discrepancies to the Front Office flash
- Meet team’s KPI and SLA
- Provide appropriate P&L and balance sheet commentary / analysis
- Attend to ad hoc queries from the traders and other infrastructure partners relating to trading revenue and Balance Sheet
- Timely and accurate submission of returns to regulatory authorities
- Perform month end process (Bid-Offer, Price testing etc.)
- Agree positions and results between Front and back-office systems and submit them for sign off at the appropriate level
- Monitor trading activity for compliance with various related policies
- Identify and drive process re-engineering constantly for control improvement and process efficiency
Accountability: Risk management. Time split : 10%
- Maintaining a strong compliance culture
- Adhering to all the policies and procedures of the bank
- Ensuring high quality of service to all clients (reputational risk)
Accountability: Personal Development. Time split : 10%
- Actively managing one’s own technical and soft skills development in conjunction with the Head of Product Control and Governance
- Researching, identifying and proposing training solutions for own development to the Head of Product Control and Governance
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business qualification)
- 2+ years related experience
Knowledge & Skills: (Maximum of 6) Competencies:
- Knowledge of standard and non-standard Markets / Treasury products
- Understanding of interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk and credit risk
- Understanding of the policies, procedures and ethical requirements of a Markets environment
- Excel competency
- Communication skills
- Ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously and deliver to tight deadlines
- Digitally empowered ,Utilises technologies to enhance own, team and business performance
- Creative problem solver , Finds sustainable solutions to difficult solutions to difficult and complex problems using creative methods
Qualifications
Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas – Business, Commerce and Management Studies, Commercial mindset – Junior (Meets some of the requirements and would need further development), Digital familiarity (Meets some of the requirements and would need further development), Experience in a similar environment, Openness to change (Meets some of the requirements and would need further development), Personal mastery (Meets all of the requirements), Product and/or Service Knowledge (Meets some of the requirements and would need further development), Reasoning (Meets all of the requirements)
