Role Purpose
The Programme Implementation Area Manager (PIAM) is responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing programme delivery in a designated Programme Implementation Area (PIA).
This role ensures the successful implementation of multi-sectoral interventions in child protection, education, SRHR, youth economic empowerment, and humanitarian response, aligned with Plan International Tanzania’s Country Strategy and global commitments.
The PIAM will manage staff, budgets, operations, and partnerships with local governments, civil society, and communities, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and impactful programmes.
As a member of the Extended Country Management Team (ECMT), the PIAM contributes to national programme leadership and strategy execution.
Dimensions of the Role

Lead and supervise programme and project teams in the assigned area.

Manage multi-million-dollar programme portfolios and ensure efficient budget utilization.

Strengthen and manage partnerships with local government, NGOs, and community stakeholders.

Oversee field-level programme delivery, ensuring alignment with quality and safeguarding standards.

Supervise direct reports including Project Managers, MEAL Officers, Finance, and Admin staff.

Coordinate closely with Programme Quality & Influencing teams to maximize impact.

Ensure area-level risk management, staff wellbeing, and safeguarding compliance.

Contribute to emergency preparedness and response in the assigned area.
