Request for Proposals – Drilling of Boreholes in Western Province – ELEP Project Job Opportunity
Background
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an International Non-Governmental Organization that was born from a drive to conserve threatened wildlife and their habitats in the world. Our mission is to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. In August 2023 the World Wide Fund for Nature in Zambia (WWF Zambia) in collaboration with People in Need (PIN) secured funding from the Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA) and Czech Development Agency (CZDA) to implement a project aimed at contributing towards the conservation of the local ecosystem, restoration of biodiversity and alleviation of poverty in the Barotse Floodplain of Western Zambia.
The project duration period is three years. The project interventions are centered on achieving the following specific objective; to create alternative and climate-resilient livelihood opportunities for smallholder farmers in two districts ( Mongu and Limulunga) of Barotse Floodplain in Western Zambia through strengthened management of the local ecosystem, development of alternative value chains and enhanced access to clean energy. WWF Zambia Through this project as part of its interventions, are looking to drill Four (04) boreholes to supply water to level one livestock service centers that will also house tree nurseries. Therefore, interested parties should submit proposals for Borehole Confirmatory sitting, Drilling, Development, Solar pump installation, construction of water troughs for livestock, and associated civil construction work in the:
- Mutwiwamba / Sefula areas at -15.366778°, 23.174678°
- Lukulo area at -15.360817°, 23.494997° in Mongu district
- Ushaa area at -14.971273°, 23.235775°
- Mooka /Sima areas at -14.853271°, 23.619312° in Limulunga district.
Scope of Works :
The driller will drill 4 boreholes with drinkable water and construction of boreholes to a depth of 50 meters below ground level. The driller shall be responsible for drilling, installation of casings, gravel packing, grouting, well development, pumping test and Water quality tests noting that the specifications below will apply on each site
- Mobilization of personnel, equipment, materials and Demobilization
- Geophysical investigations and sampling: collecting drill cuttings at 5m intervals, laying them out in rows, and storing representative samples of each horizon or rock type, accurately labelled.
- Warma registration and report making
- Setting up and dismantling Rig at the selected point and demobilization
- Drilling with 5-inch dia in Sedimentary formation with mud rotary method up to 50. The contractor will use mud rotary drilling, with DTH in some areas. The tender should clearly indicate the methods, equipment, materials, and personnel experience. Details of logistical support, spare parts, office and communications equipment must be provided. The rig must have accessories, and mud should be used only with degradable high-quality polymer. Bentonite is not allowed as a drilling additive.
- Supply and installation of UPVC plain/ screen casings of 5” ND
- Supply and install bottom Plug.
- Supply and installation of clean rounded gravel pack
- Complete the borehole with sanitary seal grouting, backfill material etc.
- Development of the completed borehole with the water until clean water is observed.
- Pumping test (2-4 hrs. at 0.5 or 1 l/s for successful boreholes only)
- Carry out Laboratory water quality tests as specified
- Diful AISI 304 SS impeller, Brushless DC moter,365 watts mono crystal solar submersible pump with MPPT control panel and all accessories
- Suitable solar panel with Solar panels structure
- Supply and install 3,000L PVC tank complete with inlet and outlet pipes
- 5-meter Tank stand of 20/20 angle bars all round with steel stand capable of supporting a minimum of 3,000ltrs with staircase and protective bars using flat bars
- Supply, lay and joint uPVC (class 6) distribution pipe and fittings, bends, tees etc (50M) – All PVC pipes must conform these standards (DIN, 8061, 8062,4925,and 19532)
- construction of 4 water trough (1 per site)
Specific Deliverables:
- Four (4) drilled boreholes fitted with a Solar pump and all necessary accessories
- Four (4) livestock water troughs constructed
- Two (2) Garden taps installed per site for human domestic use.
Duration:
The consultancy is expected to last for 3 months from the period of contracting.

- All prices should be quoted in ZMW
- Suppliers should attach the following documents: (a) PACRA Certificate of Registration (b) Valid ZRA Tax Clearance Certificate (c) Valid trading license (s) (d) Proposed methodology and approach in the provision of required services. (e) Provide 3 written client references (f) Valid WARMA Certification (g) EIZ registration (h) NCC registration (I) Team composition with attachment of relevant accreditation certificates and CVs
- Quotations will be rejected under the following:
1. Incomplete submission
2. Not meeting required specifications
3. Request for quotes received after the closing date
Payment terms:
50% upon signing of the contract, and 50% upon completion and approval.

Purchaser’s Right to Vary Requirements at Time of Award:
WWF Zambia reserves the right at the time of making the award of the contract to increase or decrease the number of goods specified in the Request for Quotation without any change in unit price or other terms and conditions.
