1.0 Background
Transparency International Zambia (TI-Z) is the local chapter of the global civil society movement Transparency International, dedicated to fighting corruption and promoting transparency, integrity, accountability, and good governance. TI-Z’s vision is “A Zambia anchored on citizens and institutions of integrity” and its mission is to be a leading anti-corruption crusader contributing to national development through a culture of integrity and zero tolerance to corruption.
The Research Department supports key studies such as the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), the Zambia Bribe Payers Index, and other governance-related analyses, including decentralization, Constituency Development Fund (CDF) monitoring, and the cost of elections.
2.0 Job Purpose
TI-Z seeks two (2) Research Assistants to provide research and analytical support on four ongoing studies:

State of the Civic Space in Zambia

Corruption vulnerabilities in tax governance and compliance
-
Responsible mining, human rights, and corruption risks in the extractive sector
-
Corruption vulnerability assessment of the Social Cash Transfer Programme
2.1 Main Responsibilities
-
Conduct desk-based research and produce high-quality reports and summaries.

Collect and analyze qualitative data (e.g., KIIs, FGDs) using NVivo or similar software.

Collect and analyze quantitative data using STATA, SPSS, or Excel.

Support methodology development and inception meetings.
-
Conduct policy analysis of government actions, laws, and programmes.
-
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Advocacy, Policy, and Research Manager.
3.0 Duration of Engagement
40 working days.
4.0 Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (Political Science, Economics, Development Studies, Social Work, Public Administration, or related field).

2–3 years’ professional experience as a researcher, policy analyst, or associate in a civil society organization, think tank, or similar institution.

Proficiency in research tools: STATA, SPSS, NVivo (quantitative & qualitative).

Strong understanding of governance, anti-corruption frameworks, treaties, conventions, and public finance processes (budgeting, taxation, etc.).

Excellent analytical, writing, teamwork, and communication skills.
-
Results-oriented, proactive problem-solving mindset.
