SAFETY AND HEALTH OFFICER
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Safety and Health Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring safety and health programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

Conducting Critical Control Monitoring and audits.

Participating in the identification of hazards and other identified critical controls.

Ensuring preparedness and emergency readiness is met.

Participating in safety & health committee meetings, training, and investigations.

Assisting with the implementation and monitoring of safety and health management systems and standards.
-
Managing site-wide corporate safety and health records.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.

At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role in underground mining.
Certifications and Courses:
-
Safety Training Course e.g. SAMTRAC
-
Certificate in Principles in Safety Management, Risk Assessment, and Accident/Incident Investigation
-
ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001/ OHSAS 18001/ ISO 45001 Systems
