Welder -LPG (Various Slots)
Role Objective:
- The MIG Welder will be responsible for fitting and joining, fabricating and repairing metal and other wieldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques in accordance with product specifications and production schedules.
- This position is a safety sensitive position and requires a clear mind and diligence. The employee has the responsibility for his/her own safety as well as the safety of others.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform welding duties using all consumables in welding and as per the welder certification protocol.
- Weld steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work with specific orders or verbal instructions.
- Work includes set-up, laying out work using fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate parts and re-work finished products.
- Work with maintenance and processing to assist in the fabrication or welding of multi-component parts.
- Operate hand power tools, grinders, cutting torch and other hand tools related to the job needs.
- Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product quantity and quality specifications and avoid loses.
- Read, understand and follow job order specification, engineering drawing, and/or other orders
- Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.
- Inspect equipment to maintain functional equipment if any repairs are needed notify the maintenance/production/Q.C supervisor.
- Record and submit production reports and Valid Production Quantities to the production manager or the QC supervisor, fully signed and approved and also capturing operating machine settings, indicating machine status and cleanliness.
- Welds metal parts, using gas welding equipment as specified by layout, welding diagram, or work order: Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.
- Selects torch, torch tip, filler rod and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal.
- Connects regulator valves and hoses to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders, and welding torch and ensures safety of the machine and of himself as operator.
- Turns regulator valves to activate flow of gases, lights torch and adjusts gas mixture and pressure, to obtain desired flow/flame based on knowledge of gas-welding techniques.
- Holds torch at proper angle to metal and guides along weld joint, applying filler rod to molten area to form weld either manually semi or automatic and examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
- Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes, and builds up metal parts and May apply flux to work piece instead of filler rod.
- Perform other associated duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor
Skills & Requirements:
- High school certificate, Diploma or equivalent
- MIG Welder Certification through KEBS/NITA.
- Attention to detail.
- 2 years and above of professional welding experience preferred.
- Physical stamina and strength.
- Handle heavy equipment.
